Description

With more than 10,000 veterans and an additional 3,400 active military in Cascade County, service to veterans and current service members is an important aspect of RSVP’s work. We need your help to better serve those who served and still serve us.

The Vets 4 Vets Stand Down brings together government agencies, faith-based organizations, housing providers, nonprofit agencies, and local businesses to connect veterans with job services, legal advice, financial advice, claims and benefits, family services, psychological and addiction counseling, physical therapy, and haircuts. Medical services and health screenings such as dental, blood pressure, hearing and vision will also be available. Homeless veterans are also able to receive clothing, shoes, and other surplus supplies, provided they have met the eligibility requirements. The event is open to all area veterans and their families. Last year, over 500 veterans came through the Stand Down.

Event coordinators are looking for 10-15 RSVP volunteers to assist veterans with the various booths at the Stand Down and to ensure their intake forms are completed. The Stand Down runs from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 28 and Friday, Sept. 29 at the Montana ExpoPark’s Mercantile Building. Volunteers can work a full day or partial day. To volunteer and schedule a shift, contact us at 727-3400 or jbriggs@uwccmt.org.
