Description

After a windy winter, Great Falls' parks need some attention. United Way invites volunteers to spruce up our neighborhood parks on Saturday, April 30, and make them an inviting place for children and their parents to enjoy healthy and safe activities.

United Way of Cascade County is partnering with the City Park and Recreation Department to rake wood chips, pick up trash, stain benches, paint and various other projects at 12 od 56 community parks.

Businesses, civic groups, families and scout troops are encouraged to recruit teams of 6 to 12 people to adopt a park. United Way will match you with a park that fits your team and will coordinate with you to give you a detailed task list and the supplies you need.

Individuals are invited to join, United Way volunteers at near the band shell at Gibson Park, Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Volunteers are encouraged to wear work clothes, including gloves and bring a shovel or heavy duty rake.

This is a terrific volunteer opportunity for families and people of all ages.

This is the fifth year that United Way has organized Take Pride in Our Parks to celebrate National Volunteer Month and give local people the opportunity to make our city parks a safe and inviting place for healthy play. United Way’s goals include advancing health and studies show that volunteering just two hours a week improves your health physically and mentally and extends your lifespan.
