We provide FREE speech and language evaluations and therapy to preschool children. We see students from counties throughout the North-Central part of Montana. We provided evaluations and therapy to 186 preschool children last year. It is difficult to interrupt a therapy session with a preschool child.
We are seeking a few volunteers to help us out when our regular volunteers aren't available. This is a more flexible position and is great for those who are not able to sign up for a consistent shift. We usually have a week or so notice when we need someone to step in.
Our volunteers free the speech pathologists to be able to work with students without having to answer the phone calls, take messages, and work the intercom system. Our volunteers have provided over 25,000 hours since our clinic opened. We would not be able to run our clinic efficiently without the help of our dedicated volunteers.
Our volunteers do clerical work such as answering the telephone, taking messages, and working the intercom system to let people into the building. They also sometimes are asked to watch the siblings of the students who are in speech and language therapy. We ask that our volunteers enjoy being around children and have adequate hearing to be able to answer the phone and work the intercom system.
Our volunteers work for a half day a week either in the morning from 9:00 AM to 11:30 AM or in the afternoon from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM. There is a one page summary of the Volunteer Duties that will be explained the first day they volunteer and one of the Speech/Language Pathologists will always be available for supervision or if any questions arise.
