Join First United Methodist Church in caring for those in need who have fallen through the cracks. Volunteers in this role will help provide support to some of the most vulnerable people in the community and have the chance to learn about the struggles faced by many.
First United Methodist Church is looking for volunteers to help with a variety of tasks, including assembling lunches, organizing donations of supplies, serving brown bag lunches to individuals in need, and helping supply individuals with items such as clothing, winter gear, or hygiene kits.
Interested potential volunteers need to be able to use stairs and work independently and with others. Compassion for those in need is a must! Volunteers will need to occasionally lift cases of water and ideally be able to lift at least 10 pounds safely. The dress code is casual. It is advised to leave valuables at home or lock them in the office for safekeeping.
Volunteers will serve out of First United Methodist Church at 610 2nd Ave North and are asked to arrive at least ten minutes before the start of their shift. Volunteers are needed Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to noon. You can sign up for one day a week or multiple days. All volunteers will have an orientation when they start the program. Staff will be nearby at all times to help provide guidance and navigate any problems.
