Sons of Norway is looking for volunteers to help with food preparation for their annual State Fair booth! They will be working from July 11 to 13, 8-11a.m. on lefse and July 17 to 21, 8-11a.m. on meatballs. Help is also needed to help at the State Fair Booth from July 27 to August 4.
Volunteer duties include measuring lefse dough and forming balls to be put on plates. Measuring meat to be made into Viking meatballs or forming the meatballs and placing on trays. Volunteers must be able to either sit or stand to do these jobs. Hands must be functional enough to fill and level the measuring cups. Volunteers must also be able to follow instructions as needed. These tasks will take place at the Sons of Norway Lodge, located at 1314 7th St. South in Great Falls. There is a coffee/ juice break each day with healthy snacks and treats. New volunteers will be supervised and taught how to do each task. Clothing should be comfortable and casual. We will use aprons and gloves and hairnets are available.
As a lodge, they make and sell over 2400 pounds of Viking meatballs along with lefse at the fair each year. The proceeds go back into the community via donations, which include Meals on Wheels, Food Bank, Toys for Tots, Salvation Army, Firemen’s Education Fund, Ski for Light MT , Ski for Light International, High School Graduation Parties, Scholarships, Senior Citizens, Lions Club, Children’s Museum, Family Promise, Community Band Concerts in the Park, The Natatorium, Little League, the Children’s Library Fund along with many other groups and activities in our community
