Who We Are

Mission: To mobilize the local Church to create life-changing moments for children who have experienced relational trauma.

Royal Family Kids’ Camp Montana is a one week camp experience that beings hope and healing to children in our local foster care system.

Founded in 1985 by Pastor Wayne Tesch, Royal Family KIDS began as a summer camp for foster children in Costa Mesa, California, focusing on creating meaningful experiences for children aged 6-12. Between 1990 and 2008, the organization expanded globally, adding a school-year mentoring program in 2008. In 2020, it rebranded as For The Children, reflecting its broader mission of advocacy, fostering, adoption, and volunteer engagement. Today, it supports foster children year-round through camps and mentoring, with chapters across the U.S. and worldwide.

What We Do

Royal Family KIDS Camp fosters resiliency, self-esteem, hope and positive memories. The camp curriculum and activities are woven through the modality of Trust-Based Relational Intervention to ensure our children are experiencing truly life giving activities throughout the 5-day experience.

The abuse and neglect they have experienced in their short lives, to include being removed from their home, creates a vacuum in their hearts that we seek to fill with a week of focused attention, encouragement and affirmation loving adults. In this non-competitive setting, with other children who have experienced the trauma they have, they can begin to succeed and begin believing in themselves, helping to change the trajectory of their lives, giving them a fighting chance at being productive members of society as adults.
