Who We Are

Mission: To help homeless children and their families achieve sustainable independence.

Family Promise is an interfaith program that provides shelter, meals, and comprehensive support services to children and their families who are facing homelessness. Family Promise of Great Falls started hosting guests in January 2015.

There are Family Promise affiliates operating in Billings, Bozeman, Missoula, and Helena, Montana. Many faith communities are participating in this program in each city. Family Promise affiliates are nonsectarian. All clients are welcome. Volunteers come from diverse backgrounds and represent nearly every faith in the United States.

What We Do

  • Day Center: Guests use the Day Center, space at Central Christian Church from 10 AM to Noon to shower, care for pre-school children, and seek employment. Many guests are employed during the day and go to work. During the school year, children go to school. The Day Center provides guests with a mailing address and a home base from which to conduct their housing search.
  • Transportation: Family Promise provides a van for transporting guest children to school, guests to work interviews, medical appointments, or other meetings. While some guests have cars, the Family Promise program attempts to minimize guest gasoline expenses by transporting them to most of their activities.

Volunteers: Volunteers are the heart of the Program; without them, it cannot exist. Volunteers provide a variety of services: cooking and serving meals, playing with children or helping them with homework, and staying overnight. Beyond providing lodging and meals, volunteers interact with the guests, treating them with respect and responding with compassion.
