Volunteer: Peace Place Afterschool ProgramJoin Peace Place in caring for children afters 5 to 17 who have specialized needs. Our program provides support for these children and volunteers expand how many children can be served! After school volunteers will get children off the bus and checked into the After-School Program, some of whom are wheelchair-bound or have communication and/or behavioral challenges. Volunteers will be assisting the Director of Operations and the Program Coordinator in preparing snacks, art/math/science projects, assisting children with homework or other tasks, interacting with the children and their parents/caregivers. All volunteers must pass an in-depth background check through MT DPHHS Child Care Licensing, ability Volunteer shifts are 3-6 PM (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday), 2:30-5:30 PM (Wednesday). Note that volunteers don't need to serve every day. Volunteers are asked to commit long term for the school year. The volunteer will help us in being the first, positive face of Peace Place, setting the stage for the entire program. The volunteer will help children to be safe as they enter the building, allowing other staff members to be able to supervise other children and start the program. The volunteer will also make a huge impact on the children, being able to work with them one-on- one or in a small group, helping children with specialized needs to feel validated and recognized, which are things they don’t always receive in the greater world. The volunteer will be helping to impact a child’s day and their future success! Agency: Peace Place Respite Care Join Peace Place in caring for children afters 5 to 17 who have specialized needs.
