Opportunities From: United Way of Cascade County

Do you want to help with Worlds of Work, but only have an hour to give? No problem! Be a floater volunteer at Worlds of Work and be assigned when you arrive to help in areas where more help is needed. This can vary from helping at check-in, running food and water to your fellow volunteers, helping get students on buses and much more. Floater volunteers are valuable for smoothing over hiccups in the event and provide much needed reinforcements and relief to other volunteers throughout the day.

Volunteers will attend a virtual training the week before the event during which event organizers will go over the event map and answer any questions so that you are ready to go on the day of!

Guide student groups through the different zones of Worlds of Work and help manage their time so they have the opportunity to see all the booths and stations. These volunteers will be assigned school groups and be with them from their arrival to when they reach the bus departure zone. Volunteers will stay with groups as they explore the different zones and direct them to move on when needed. These volunteers help keep the flow of traffic smooth, ensure that school groups see the whole of the Worlds of Work, and serve to ensure everyone catches their bus on time. These volunteers will be on their feet for more of their shift and be walking around both inside and outside.

Take care of your fellow volunteers and the great folks from local businesses and organizations attending the event to educate the students! Hospitality volunteers will oversee the hospitality area and take food and drinks around to volunteers. On occasion, hospitality volunteers may be called upon to jump into a task to give a volunteer a bathroom break. These volunteers will keep everyone on their feet throughout the event and help make the volunteering experience as pleasant as possible.

Volunteers will welcome teachers and students to Worlds of Work by checking them in and providing final information and instructions. In this position, you’ll be the first face that arrivals to the event see so be sure to bring your smile.

Make sure students are on the right buses and get back to their schools safely as a bus departure volunteer! Volunteers will help teachers count out students, direct classes to their buses, and work with teachers and drivers to make sure that students get back to their schools safely.

Volunteer to help keep students safe as they move through the areas of Worlds of Work. The event takes place on the grounds of Great Falls College MSU and The University of Providence, meaning that students will need to cross roads to see everything. Volunteers will be stationed at street crossings to direct students and signal stops to traffic to keep everyone safe. This position is standing so be prepared to be on your feet.

Help Worlds of Work run smoothly alongside organization staff! Volunteers at check-in will receive oncoming volunteers, provide them with final instructions, supplies, and information so they can start their shifts and positions in good order. Volunteers will also help staff troubleshoot as needed throughout the day and work alongside of them to communicate with vendors and volunteers. This position is a mix of standing and sitting.
